Our History

Pvaach he Perris Valley African American History Committee (PVAAHC) was formed as a subcommittee of the Perris Valley Arts And Activities Committee (PVAAC) in 1995. PVAAHC obtained nonprofit autonomist status in January 28, 1999. PVAAHC has been and still is a volunteer organization.

For over 30 years, has been at the forefront of cultural change, accelerating acceptance. Kerry L. Valencia support

Perris Valley African American History Committee started out doing special events, including, February Black History Month Forums that focused on issues pertinent to African Americans, bus tours of Historical Perris Valley African American Churches, Allensworth fieldtrips, as well as many other events. In February of 2000 it was decided by PVAAHC to start a Black History Parade and Expo for the City of Perris. Now, PVAAC serves the entire community!

Our Mission & Vission

Our Activities

The mission of the PVAAHC is to Engage, Enhance and Empower the Perris/Inland Empire area through African American History and Cultural Events. Emphasis is placed on February, Black History Month, as well as year round activities that promote understanding and better relations between all ethnic groups.
The vision and goal of the Perris Valley African American History Committee (PVAAHC) is to improve communities by Sharing, Interacting, and Supporting other organizations and activities that affect the lives of all citizens.
PVAAHC started doing the Perris Valley Black History Parade in 2000 and was done for almost 15 years. Then, afterwards, the parade evolved into the Peace and Unity Walk to Kick Off the Annual Black History Expo held on the City Hall premises. The Peace and Unity Walk starts at Mercado Park on 10th Street, Perris, CA and ends at the Perris’s City Hall Grounds.
The Annual Black History Expo was initiated in 2000 as being the culminating activity of the Perris Valley Black History Parade held on the last weekend in February on the Perris City Hall Grounds. Now, it is the concluding event for the Perris Valley Peace and Unity Walk. It has provided the Perris Community with over twenty-three (23) years of family and community fun, activities along with free food.
Juneteenth is hosted in June for the annual commemoration of the end of slavery in the United States after the Civil War. It is celebrate as a Juneteenth Fest Expo on the City of Perris Hall Grounds.
